I don’t like watermarks at all. So…
if the watermark is the creator’s, it’s part of the art. removing it is disrespect.
I would’ve thought you made an innocent mistake and posted a comic with the watermark already cropped out, but no. You’re just an asshole and you relish in it.
The watermark is part of the work, removing it removes the way for a viewer to find the creator, especially if it’s shared on from here. Putting it in a comment is helpful, as it’s clickable, but it doesn’t mean you can choose to remove it from the image.
Also when the licence mentions no derivative you’re not supposed to edit the image
Is scaling/ reencoding derivative? Or is it about the the visible content, only?
Lemmy hands out downscaled images. Others watermark images (reddit, 9gag,…).
Yes, I agree. Posting cropped images is bad. You can do it for personal use and no one cares. But leave it intact if you spread it.
