it’s so weird, too, because Hooters was originally founded to make use of a closed down strip club, and they just leaned on that as a gimmick. they hired all the sex workers who had worked at that strip club. but they did all as a joke.

like there’s a universe where hooters was founded by a locally owned employee driven co-op to keep the people who depended on that strip club solvent, and did their whole “it’s a family joint” as a schtick to maintain their employees’ dignities. instead we got buffalo wild wings that degrades their employees’ dignities even further than buffalo wild wings by objectifying them entirely and fetishizing the product they sell.

there’s WAY too many nazis in open source. it makes me so mad. the originators of these tools and licenses believed in making tools available for everyone so that we could be the owners. but then these fucking selfish assholes don’t want anything but for themselves. they contribut to Linux, sure, but not out of any desire that Linux grow or be usable for everyone, but just out of their own desire to not pay for something and then an opportunity to weild petty power over someone.

it’s still “around” but its leadership and mission have changed drastically enough since IBM’s purchase of RedHat to represent something completely else from what it once did and how you probably thought of it back when you paid attention to it. i’m sure if you installed it you’d find it all very familiar for a while, but eventually you’d hit something that made you go “hey wait”

personally i’d not have made the association joke since IBM, the RedHat corporation’s parent company is genuinely participatory in both the Latin/Indigenous American genocide and Israel’s genocide against muslims in Palestine, Lebanon, Iran, and other nearby nations, not to mention RedHat themselves have been exploiting people’s labor in North Carolina and haven’t done hardly anything to help the neighboring communities around their offices in Charlotte and Ashville, but i don’t expect most people shitposting about Linux on Lemmy to be keyed into the real world impacts the RedHat corporation has on my friends and neighbors

always look to sex workers to learn more about what’s currently going on in your local community’s labor organization movement. the hierachies we exist within are built on various forms of exploiting power dynamics. one of those power dynamics is sexual violence and exploitation. sex workers often have the most idea of what’s going on because they are the most exposed to exploitation. often, the roots of their exposure are other contributing factors like being born into poverty, having an abusive background, being queer, being trans, being a minority ethnicity, or a combination of some or all of those factors.

as an example from my local history, i grew up in a former mining town. throughout appalachia you’ll hear a common story to this. the miners were paid so poorly that even being paid in company scrip, they still couldn’t afford to feed their families. often, wives and mothers supplemented a miner’s income through sex work, often with their husbands’ bosses. sex workers in appalachia became a driving force in organizing the United Mine Workers of America

in conclusion: yes. the rich literally want to fuck the poor. they get off on having power over someone in a sexual encounter. that’s the main reason for the pedophillic elite, in fact. i’d even be willing to make the argument this is why the construct of poverty is enforced in the first place. it creates a class of vulnerable people who can be exploited in the ways the rich enjoy exploiting us, and one of those ways is sexually

I try to not downvote top level posts without explanation so let me explain:

Revisionists can never be based. Revisionism is a tool of the right wing. It has only ever acted in support of fascism because fascism is the political position that an authoritarian government controls the past, and who controls the past controls the future. Leftism meanwhile is driven by a drive for truth, justice, and peace.

I didn’t find this to be a left-wing meme. I found it to be right wing propaganda. We can have a longer discussion of what the aim of the originator of this was, but I want to keep it brief and on topic.
